Vita

Malte Wienhues was born in Husum in 1998. After a few years of violin and piano lessons with Rainer Effenberg, he took his first organ lessons with district cantor KMD Christian Hoffmann (Tönning), with whom he still has a close working relationship. After first studying meteorology, he began his church music studies at the Lübeck Music Conservatory in 2019.
A special focus for him is the music of the former Husum organist Nicolaus Bruhns. For example, in November 2019 he performed his complete works for organ in Bruhns’ baptismal church in Schwabstedt and founded the Nicolaus Bruhns Choir Husum in his honour in 2018. For his commitment, Malte Wienhues was awarded the Margarete Böhme Youth Culture Prize of the Nordfriesland district in 2020.
As an assistant to the Lübeck choral conducting professor Johannes Knecht, he is gaining a great deal of experience in coordinating choral work at the conservatoire. Numerous concerts in various formations take Malte Wienhues throughout Schleswig-Holstein and southern Denmark.
